What is your name / where are you from?
My name is Luke Webb and I’m from Glasnevin North in Dublin.

How did you start playing the harp?
The truth of the matter is I’m not sure. I had been playing tin whistle in my local comhaltas for years and between there and my local nursery where there was a harp in the house, I must have subconsciously noticed and developed an interest in it. Thankfully when I asked my parents at the age of 7 if I could learn it, they supported me and I haven’t looked back since. 

What does the harp mean to you?
Truly I cannot fully express what the harp means to me. It has become the centre of my happiness and has allowed me to express myself creatively in ways other professions would not have. It is a powerful instrument that evokes emotions in anyone that hears it.

What do you like most about Lá na Cruite | Harp Day?
I love the togetherness and the celebration of this magnificent instrument. Seeing people connect around the world, especially on Lá na Cruite, because of the harp is something that makes me quite proud to be a harper.
