Cruit Éireann | Harp Ireland, in partnership with Cairde na Cruite, is pleased to announce two half scholarships for harpers to attend An Chúirt Chruitireachta, the International Festival for Irish Harp in An Grianán, Termonfechin, Co Louth between 25th and 30th June 2023. This five-day annual harp festival provides a unique opportunity for harpers to gain expert tuition from a range of internationally renowned harpers, immerse themselves within the tradition and meet and socialise with other harpers.
“An Chúirt Chruitireachta and the work of Cairde na Cruite have been pivotal in encouraging and inspiring new generations of harpers. CÉHI is delighted to support participants who will benefit from world-class harp teaching and performances at this festival, as well as connecting with other harpers of all ages” said Lauren Ní Néill, CÉHI’s CEO.
For the past 35 years, An Chúirt Chruitireachta has been at the forefront of Irish harp activity, leading, innovating and supporting the development of harping as well as integrating it with the broader tradition. The festival has introduced young harp players to world renowned Irish harpers of the highest standards, to the early harp tradition, contemporary techniques, repertoire and the singing tradition.
“Cairde na Cruite is very grateful to CÉHI for its continued support for An Chúirt Chruitireachta. We look forward to welcoming both scholarship recipients for an inspiring week of harping” said Fiona Gryson and Rachel Duffy, Co-Directors of An Chúirt Chruitireachta.
