Lá na Cruite, National Harp Day 2019
National Harp Day 2019Harp Ireland, Cruit Éireann continued to celebrate Ireland’s 100-year-old harp tradition on 19 October 2019, by hosting the now well-established annual National Harp Day in towns and cities across the length and breadth of Ireland. From Derry to Dingle, from Belfast to Ballyvourney, the delightful strains of the harp resounded at concerts, sessions, pop-up sessions, talks and demonstrations of harp-making.
National Harp Day promotes Ireland’s national instrument, encourages more people to learn the harp, attracts new audiences and recognises the harp’s unique place in Irish musical and cultural life. This year, over forty events took place throughout the country and internationally, with associated harp events taking place virtually with our harping friends in the UK, Scotland, France, the USA and New Zealand.
Huge thanks to all who took part and all who supported.
