Sheila Larchet Cuthbert, a founding member and current President of Cairde na Cruite, turns one-hundred years old today. Sheila has led a remarkable life of harping, both as a performer and teacher, and became a true stalwart of the harping tradition in Ireland. Her international contribution at a World Harp Congress level, her seminal publication The Irish Harp Book and her advocacy, her teaching and performing career as the RTESO principal harpist for many years contributed significantly to a resurgence of interest in harping during the twentieth century, and undoubtedly set the scene for our vibrant harping tradition today.

We congratulate Sheila on this special occasion, and pay tribute to her lifelong work and dedication to harping in Ireland.
