Deirdre Ní Bhuachalla
Deirdre Ní Bhuachalla is an experienced professional harpist and harp tutor based in Dundalk, Co. Louth. A fluent Irish speaker, with a rich family legacy in traditional Irish music, Deirdre studied the harp with Siobhán Ní Dhúill, Nancy Calthorpe, Evelyn Hearns and Denise Kelly. While studying at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama she was a member of the DIT Harp Ensemble in its inaugural year.
Deirdre has performed across Europe including Festival Interceltique de Lorient and was harper in residence at Áras an Uachtarán as a representative of Feis Ceoil. She has been teaching Irish harp and associated musicianship both privately and in schools on a part-time basis since 1998. She is currently teaching harp for Music Generation Louth (LMETB) where she is also a member of the resource team and project manager of Nós Nua – Louth Youth Folk Orchestra. Deirdre sits on the committee of Cairde na Cruite and is currently Vice Chairperson of her local CCÉ branch, Craobh Dhún Dealgan.
